2d4. Traffic (35 written comments):
Downtown parking very hazardous because having to back into moving traffic. Many drivers are
very considerate & wait but even so it is very troubling & I worry I am going to not see a pedestrian
or car.
It is hard to get through town at 4 pm when college students gag it up
especially when they cross
Highland St.
Increase in traffic on Reservoir Rd. from Bristol
I try to avoid downtown Aug-May, College students take over town.
How it is patterned.
High parking meter fines
Not enough parking downtown
Downtown traffic jams where Highland comes down the hill and meets Main, people who are
parked on Main St. can't get out of spaces because of traffic jams.
Pedestrian & automotive traffic, lack of parking, makes going into downtown unpleasant.
Downtown is a bottleneck of traffic. We need routes to circle around this tie up.
Difficult to get through downtown.
Difficult to cross Tenney Mt Highway
Corner of Langdon & Highland is dangerous during school year.
Consider more traffic lights on TMH
Center circle almost wrecked by state - leave it alone
Adjust speed limits on Fairgrounds & Quincy Road; adjust speed limit & signage at Smith Bridge
Expect real pedestrian - street crossing problems at roundabout - Need overpass or tunnel!
Town needs to decrease speeding & enforce the speed limit on Fairgrounds Rd.
When campus/students are in class - they are rude & ignore stop signs.
Traffic only a problem when PSU is in session.
Traffic on TMH & Downtown needs controls.
Traffic is congested when college is in session. No parking at Draper Bldg to close for traffic moving
in both directions.
Traffic has become very heavy; more growth will mean more traffic; more growth will not reduce
property taxes.
Traffic flow along TMH is greatly reduced due to traffic lights. I have chosen other alternatives when
convenient (back roads)
Lack of sidewalks & safe walking trails
Traffic & parking limits
When college is in, traffic is awful
TMH since WalMart; Langdon & Highland intersection around Green on Friday afternoons
The Common Area - noons & Friday pms
Tenney Mountain Highway is becoming heavily trafficked.
Tend to avoid area due to congestion
Seasonal problems - backing out downtown can be dangerous
Route 25 needs light at Smith Bridge Road
Poor traffic control - college kids & tourists going wrong way around circle
