Absentee landlords
Affects only people in these areas.
Appearance including trash, building condition and number of vehicles continues to be a problem &
also adds to the traffic problem.
As off campus housing spreads, we see our neighborhoods being "gobbled up" & residents being
pushed to more rural edges of Plymouth - While these are beautiful places to live, I think we need
to sustain "in-town living" (see comments below)
At times, activities uncontrolled.
I strongly believe property used for off campus housing should bear a higher property tax rate.
College dormitories should be filled to 100% capacity before students are allowed to live in town.
I felt I had to move from a home within "town" because of student rental properties around me - and
it was difficult to sell because of them.
College students out late drunk.
Encroaching on residential areas (w/ kids)
Everyone dreads the prospect of students moving into a house in their neighborhood. This could
lead to conflict.
Extension of student housing into neighborhoods. Families buying homes & renting to multiple
students.
Half of the town looks like a slum due to student housing. Trash everywhere, unpainted badly
maintained buildings. Pleasant St is particularly bad.
Not exactly "students living off campus" It is the insufficient mentoring of said persons' behavior.
The College doesn't seem to sufficiently monitor & until recently assess enough permits discipline
Homes in single-family zone permitted to be used as student housing.
College dead weight to taxpayers
Students are branching out & trashing nice neighborhoods.
No need to elaborate!
Some off campus housing is a disgrace!
Student housing has swallowed up whole neighborhoods.
Student housing is destroying our community
Student housing is removing many residences from use by tax paying residents & student housing
is not being taxed enough to offset the additional cost in town services required.
Student housing should not be mixed in w/ residents. Keep students in one place.
Situation is improving
Student rental in residential neighborhoods create an unwelcome, fun-down appearance to the
overall area & discourage people from wanting to buy house nearby - lowers home values & pride
in home ownership.
Similar to item 2 - enforce strict multi-family areas
Students living off campus is a major problem
The university &/or landlords need to be held accountable for expenses incurred by students which
place an undue burden on town finances.
There larger off campus housing properties should be taxed according to income approach - a
fairer tax to support the extra strain on services.
Too many college rentals!
Too many houses are under total control of immature persons.
Trash & rude kids
Unrestrained moral degradation of youth & civic leaders.
Student noise & irresponsibility & the few criminal acts make poor relations in the area.
Poor environment - difficult for others
Would like to find a neighborhood free of college students & partying
